Following the 2024 elections, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) controls the Machilipatnam Assembly seat, while the Jana Sena Party holds the Machilipatnam Lok Sabha seat. Both parties are part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which is the current ruling coalition in Andhra Pradesh. Parliamentary politics (Lok Sabha)In the 2024 general election, Vallabhaneni Balashowry of the Jana Sena Party was elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Machilipatnam Lok Sabha constituency.  He defeated his opponent from the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) with a margin of over 2.23 lakh votes. Balashowry had previously won the seat in 2019 as a candidate for the YSRCP but joined the Jana Sena Party in early 2024.  State politics (Assembly)For the Machilipatnam Assembly constituency, the political landscape is defined by the following: Current MLA: Kollu Ravindra of the TDP won the 2024 Assembly election. Cabinet post: He now serves as the Minister for Mines and Geology and Minister for Excise in the Andhra Pradesh state government. Election result: Ravindra defeated his YSRCP opponent, Perni Krishnamurthy (Kittu), with a margin of more than 50,000 votes.
